My Snow Day!!!
Today’s Fortune: You have an ambitious nature.
I think this fortune is true. I have been wanting to build a snow fort ever since we got our blizzzard, but when Mom finally let us go outside to play in the snow, I wound up doing a lot more than that!
Before we could go outside in the snow, Mom made us get dressed in special winter stuff. She made me and Puglet some scarves out of some felted sweaters she has, and she made me a hat out of the toe of a sock. They were toasty and warm, and we were glad we had them, because the snow is very cold.
The first thing we did when we got outside was build our fort! There were lots of big mountains of snow to choose from. Mom says these are called “snow drifts”, and they happen when the wind blows the snow into great big piles. We were glad the wind did this, because it saved us a lot of work building our fort.
We chose the biggest one for our fort. All we had to do was dig a hole in the side of it, and we had an instant fort! We were really glad, because the snow was still kind of fresh and did not want to stick together very much. It would have been a lot more work if we had to build walls. We like our fort a lot!!
There is only so much sitting in a snow fort you can do at one time. That is because your rear end will get cold and wet. I found out that it is important to keep moving if you are playing in the snow. Otherwise, you will freeze.
We did not want to freeze, so we decided to make snow angels. If you have never made a snow angel, here is how to do it:
- Find a good spot where the snow is nice and deep and smooth and not messed up yet.
- Stand in that spot and fall backward in the snow. Deep snow is soft, so it will cushion your fall. If your snow is not deep, don’t try this, because it will probably hurt.
- Flap your arms up and down like a bird. Move your legs back and forth like scissors. Then you will have a really good snow angel like the one I made.
It helps if you have long arms and legs, too. Puglet has short, stumpy arms and legs. His snow angel looked more like a snow troll, but I did not tell him this.
After we got tired of making angels and trolls, we decided to build us a snowman. This was harder than we thought it would be, because the snow did not stick together so good. Our snowman was not as round and fluffy as Frosty looks on TV, but I think we still did a pretty good job.
Mom gave us some buttons to use for his eyes and nose, and even made him a scarf like the ones she made for us. I cut a smile for him out of red felt, and found some good sticks so he would have arms. He is the best snowman I ever made! He is also the only snowman I ever made, but I think he would be hard to beat.
By the time we finished with our ambitious projects, we were sopping wet and so cold we could not feel our fingers and toes. And also, Mom fussed at us for tracking a bunch of snow in the house.
But it was worth it. And we will go play in the snow some more. As soon as we thaw out.

Hi Noah,
Your winter gear is awesome! You look great in the beanie hat and scarves. The snow angel reminds me of some sock monkey Christmas cards I have. You and Puglet should make your own cards. Isn’t your dad a photographer? You did a great job on your first snowman! I hope he sticks around for a while…LOL!
XOXO Big Monkey

Hi, Big Monkey!
Thanks for the compliments on my snowman! I am glad we took good pictures, because he is all melted now. There is just a little piece of snow with a stick poking out of it.
Does it get cold in Florida? Mom said she would make you a scarf like mine, if you won’t burn up in it.
Love, Noah
