Big Fun from Big Monkey!!!

Today’s Fortune: A wonderful surprise is in store for you.

Well, once again my fortune was right! I did not get to blog yesterday. That is because yesterday was the first day we were able to get out of our driveway since it blizzarded on Christmas Eve. It was also the first day we got any mail since last Wednesday. Mom says people in Oklahoma cannot drive on the snow very well. Apparently, this includes the postman.

We had lots of errands to run yesterday. We met Uncle Phil and Aunt Karon at a good restaurant, which I will have to review later. We did lots of shopping, and by the time we got home, it was too late to blog. But the postman came while we were gone and he brought lots of packages, so I got to open presents all evening!  There were too many to talk about in one blog post, so I will have to tell about them for a couple of days.

The first package was addressed to me, so that is the first one I opened. It was from my pal, Big Monkey, who lives in Florida. I was so surprised when I opened the box and found a card and three wrapped presents!

I decided to open the card first.  It was the best card I have seen in a long time!  Those sock monkeys look like they have had a lot more experience making snow angels than I have.   Luckily, it is snowing again right now, so it looks like I might get a chance to practice some more.

The first present I opened was the flat blue one with Santas and snowflakes.  It was another card!!  This one is a kind called a “postcard”.  With a postcard, you are supposed to just write on the back, put a stamp on it, and stick it in the mail without an envelope.  I am really glad Big Monkey did not do that, because my awesome sock monkey postcard would have probably gotten really grimy between here and Florida.

Big Monkey wrote a good message on the back, too.  It had a Julius sticker on it, and everything!  Here is what it said:

I don’t think Big Monkey gets snow in Sunny Florida.  I will ask Mom if we can send him some of ours.

The next package I opened was the little red one.  I was really surprised that Big Monkey would send me a peppermill, but he does read my blog, so he knows that Mom finally let me cook.

Then I remembered about Santa recycling boxes on Christmas morning.  It turns out that Big Monkey recycles, too!  The side of the box was right, though… it was The Perfect Gift!  Inside the box were two plastic monkeys and a great sock monkey pin that is different from all of my other ones.  This one says “Sock it to me!”  Also in this box was a tiny Magic 8 Ball!!  Magic 8 Ball is awesome, because if you run out of fortune cookies, you can ask it questions and it gives you good answers.

I asked Magic 8 Ball if the last package was going to be as good as this one, and it said, “It is decidedly so.”

So I opened the big box with the green wrapping paper on it!  This one said “Loft” on it.  I asked Mom what a Loft was, and she told me it was like an apartment.  I was super excited, because I was pretty sure Big Monkey sent me a Man Room!!!  I had to wait to find out, though, because those new monkeys were busy rolling my Magic 8 Ball to each other.

When I finally got to open it, it was even better than a Man Room!  Big Monkey sent me a John Deere hat!  There was a gold loop on the top of it.  In the snow angel card, Big Monkey mentioned that this was a Christmas ornament, but I could have Mom cut the loop off of it so I could wear it.

There was also a photo holder that had monkeys all over it!

I had Mom cut the loop off of my hat so I would not look like I belonged on a Christmas tree, and I put the snow angel card on the photo holder.  It is going in our dining room with all of our other fun sock monkey stuff.

I got so much stuff from Big Monkey, I could hardly believe it!

I asked Magic 8 Ball, “Can I go to Florida someday and meet Big Monkey in person?”

Magic 8 Ball said, “Signs point to yes!”

    Hi Noah!

I’m glad the postman finally delivered your package. Even though it was supposed to be Priority, I think all bets are off when it snows unexpectedly. I found the postcard in a Hallmark store at least 4 or 5 years ago. I loved them so much, I bought out their entire supply (4, I think). I’ve been saving them until I found someone who would appreciate them as much as I did. You are right, he would have gotten pretty dirty from FL to OK, and I can see him getting stuck in some postal processing equipment. :O

Laura was responsible for the Magic 8 ball. She bought a party pack of them, and I even received one in my Christmas stocking this year. I plan on consulting it for any major pending decisions.

The hat looks great on you! I knew that it would. Sock monkeys and John Deere go together like peas and carrots (Forest Gump might say that).

I hope you can come to FL some day to meet me and my large sock monkey family! We would have a great time!

    XOXO Big Monkey

Oh my goodness, Noah! Big Monkey sent you some wonderful gifts. You look so charming in your John Deere cap.
You may keep getting Christmas gifts until February if it keeps snowing in Oklahoma. We haven’t had any snow since Christmas Day. I think you may have more snow than we do. Have fun in the snow. It may be a long while before you have another white Christmas.

    Hi, Auntie Pam!

I hope I do keep getting Christmas gifts until February! That would be great fun! I think we are going to leave our Christmas decorations up for another week or so. We like them a lot. Plus it is a lot of work to put them up.

    Hi, Big Monkey!

I don’t think anything was Priority for our post office last week. That’s okay, though – I like after Christmas presents even more than early ones!! It is fun to still be opening stuff while everybody else has started thinking about Valentine’s Day.

I am really glad to have the Magic 8 Ball. Now I won’t have to bug Mom with so many questions.

I hope I can come to Florida soon. Mom has lots of Ravelry friends that live in Florida. She says maybe we can fly in and rent a car and take a road trip. That would be great fun, because neither one of us has ever been there before.

    Hi Noah,

When you decide to visit Florida, the best months are November through April. After that, it gets pretty hot and humid, and then there’s the matter of hurricane season. If you ever need any tips of places to visit, I can be your travel agent monk.

    XOXO Big Monkey

    Hi, Big Monkey!

That sounds good. Having somebody who knows the area is always nice. We usually get a GPS on our rental car, but we still wind up getting lost. It would be good to know all the fun stuff to do in Florida, too. All we know about is Disney World.

    Love, Noah
