I Heart Orr Family Farm!!!
Today’s Fortune: You are admired for your adventurous ways.
I think that fortune is probably true. I have had so many adventures the last three weeks I have not even had time to blog about them. And everywhere I go, people seem to be admiring my adventurous ways.
Halloween will be here soon! It is one of my very favorite holidays, and Mom and Dad took me pumpkin shopping so I could pick out some really good ones for jack-o-lantern carving. We did not go to the grocery store this time. Instead, they took me to a place called Orr Family Farm.
Me and Puglet wore our farm outfits, so we were ready! They had lots and lots of good pumpkins to choose from.
They had so many pumpkins, we had a hard time deciding, but we had fun shopping for them out in the sunshine.
They have all kinds of good stuff to do at Orr Family Farm. There are train rides, a corn maze, and pony rides and hay rides, too! We did not do those things this time, because we were there on a school day, and there were lots of kids in groups. We were not part of a group, so we decided to come back next year on a weekend and check out those fun activities. We did go in the gift store, though, and it was great! They have all kinds of jams and jellies and stuff. Mom got two jars of pumpkin butter, which is even better than jam!
Puglet found some tiny little pumpkins that were just his size. We thought the pumpkins were very cute, but they were not big enough to make jack-o-lanterns out of, so we did not get any.
I found a big bucket full of tiny white pumpkins. I think these are called “gourds”. I might get some of those for next year’s pumpkin, because I am already planning what I want to do in 2011.
The best thing in the gift shop was the fudge counter! They had all kinds of fudge, and Mom and Dad got us a whole box full! Our favorite kind was the praline fudge. It is white chocolate with chewy caramel praline in the middle and caramel on the top! It is the best! You should go get some!
These are the pumpkins that I chose! I wanted some unusual ones, because I have very good plans for them.
If you have followed my blog for a while, you know that last year, I carved a sock monkey jack-o-lantern pumpkin (you can click on that link to see it), but this year I have different plans. I think everyone will really like them! Stay tuned to find out!

Hi Noah!
Those are some great pumpkins you are going to carve. We are going to my Uncle Dave and Aunt Dawn’s for a pumpkin carving party today. It should be a whole bunch of fun. There will be lots of kids there, so I’ll get plenty of time to play and carve pumpkins. And lots of really good food to eat, too. I hope it won’t be too dark out so mom can take some pictures. We’re going to make s’mores around the fire pit. Mom has been telling me all day about campfire safety. I have to remember to be very careful or I can’t roast any marshmallows. She’s also been talking to me about carving the pumpkin. She has some special tools we can use, but only some of them. The really sharp ones have to be used by the adults only. She says I’m not an adult yet. Neither are some of the little cousins. But my cousin Rochelle and her boyfriend Scott are adults, so maybe they can help me.
I hope you have a really good time carving your pumpkins. And be very, very careful.
Your friend,
Chip
