I meet Calvin Klein…..

Today’s Fortune: The time is right to make a new friend.

This is my best fortune so far! Today we did a lot of boring stuff. Mom went to meet somebody named “Client” and did not take me. Then Dad needed to shop for some special stuff for making “backdrops” for his photography. Mom went to the paint store. I had to sit in the car a lot today. It was not much fun, except for when we went through the car wash, which was good.

We went to the fabric store, but we did not get sister stuff this time. Dad bought more backdrop stuff. I was really starting to think that there would be nothing fun at all today. Just like knitting days.

On our way home, we decided to stop in another antique store. I love antique stores, because they are always an adventure. There was a giant cat made of wood right inside the door, and there were also a bunch of carousel horses. Mom would not let me get pictures with them, because of what happened when I hugged the Hello Kitty at the Asian Market. I did find another very good John Deere tractor to ride on, though. I did not even get to find out if it was in our price range, though, because Mom reminded me I already had a nice John Deere tractor at home.  I will play with my own tractor, and enjoy riding all the ones I find while we are shopping.

While we were shopping,  a lady noticed Mom’s sock monkey sweater, and she noticed me, too.  She asked us if we had seen the sock monkeys that were at another shop.  We were in that shop last week and did not see any, so she said they must be new there.  We went to the other shop, and I made a bunch of new friends!!

There was a girl sock monkey, and there was a boy sock monkey dressed in yellow overalls.  There was also a bunny and something that looked sort of like a dog.  They were made from socks, but they were not monkeys.  I asked mom if they could all come home with us.  She told me that we could only adopt one new family member today, so I chose the boy monkey.  I have had enough trouble with girls lately, and we have enough pets.

Our new monkey told me his name is Calvin Klein.  It says “CK” on the front of his overalls.  Mom says those are his “initials.”  My initials are “N”, I guess.  He also has  “KNIGHTS” down one of the legs of his pants, and he has a very good yellow hat.   I am not sure what the letters on his leg are for.  I think he might have been in a gang.  I let him try out my adirondack chair when we got home.   He liked it a lot.

He will fit in very well around here, and I can tell he will be a good friend.  He will be much more fun than the sisters or the geezers.  Mom says he cannot go everywhere like I do, because there is not enough room in her big purse for both of us, but we will do lots of stuff together.

Since we adopted him, I guess that makes us brothers.  I am hoping that having a brother will not be nearly as challenging as having sisters.  Maybe I can join his gang.

My fortune was right again! The time was definitely right to make a new friend today.  I will share my Fun Club cookies with him.  I might even let him open tomorrow’s fortune cookie.

Hooray for new friends!!

Hi!! I am glad you like my blog! How is Tron? Has he been to the Harley place yet? He should so have his own blog. Love, Noah

    Noah,
Do you have a John Deere hat? My friend Farcus has one. My human Laura bought it at Walmart around Christmas time. They were selling it as a Christmas tree ornament.
I would like to see a picture of your mom’s sock monkey sweater.
Congrats on your new brother. I’m sure you guys will have lots of fun together.

    Noah,

Your Aunt Karon and I just wanted to warn you that gangs are not usually good things to belong to. Not unless they are a gang called the Jets. They usually just snap their fingers and sing songs while they dance. Maybe the Knights are a local chapter.

    Hi, Big Monkey!

No, I do not have a John Deere hat, but I would like to find one. I’ll bet Farcus really likes his. I will tell my Mom to look for one. Her sock monkey sweater is good. She blogged about it sometime last week. I hate days when she blogs about knitting, ’cause I don’t get to blog on those days. Luckily, I am keeping her too busy to get much knitting done. Love, Noah

    Hi, Uncle Phil!

I am so excited that you saw my blog! Those Jets sound good, but I do not have any fingers to snap. Would they let me in if all I can do is clap? You know, I can shake my groove thing pretty well….maybe that would get me in. I am not sure about the Knights. Calvin Klein does not seem to want to talk about his gang days very much. Love, Noah

    Noah,

I found your mom’s sock monkey sweater, and Laura LOVES it! What a masterpiece!

I also spotted a John Deere hat in your size on ebay. Here’s the link

Maybe if you save your allowance, your mom will let you buy it. Laura finds a lot of things on ebay. That’s why my family is so large!

    Hi, Big Monkey!

It is good to know that we can find a hat on ebay. My Mom will have to buy it, I think. Mom says I have to have a “PayPal account” to shop there. Apparently, they won’t let a sock monkey get one of those. Love, Noah

  • Big Monkey

Laura has one of those PayPal accounts. It works really well. They probably wouldn’t let me have one either, even though I am older than she is!

Do you have a profile on Facebook? That is a fun networking site. I am meeting new sock monkeys all the time. They wouldn’t let me call myself Big Monkey though. It was rather insulting. I translated my name into my native Croation (Velike Ludorije) to evade the Facebook police. Ha ha!

    Hi, Big Monkey!

How come they wouldn’t let you call yourself Big Monkey? It is much easier to say than Velike Ludorije. Love, Noah

  • Big Monkey

I am not sure why, except that maybe they thought I was a weirdo. I am friends with another sock monkey who’s real name is Socrates, but Facebook wouldn’t accept it so he called himself Socko instead. Now that I definitely don’t understand. Those Facebook people are not sophisticated enough to know that there was a human philosopher with that name too. Noah would be accepted I’m sure because it’s common among humans. Let me know if you join.

    Take care,
    Big Monkey
