Piratey Monkey Fun……
Today’s Fortune: You will receive a gift from someone who cares about you.
It’s crazy how accurate my fortunes are! I get lots of wonderful gifts from my friends, but the one I got last Saturday was extra special.
Me and Mom went to Tulsa with Dad last weekend. Dad was meeting a bunch of his camera friends to take some photos in a nice park. We decided that we would spend the day with our friend Aunt Tracy. I did not know that we would spend the whole day in yarn stores, but I probably should have guessed, because that’s what Mom and Aunt Tracy like to do. We did get to have breakfast at a place called IHOP first. I had hashbrowns with a side of hashbrowns. Because I really like them.
Then we went to the yarn store. It is called Loops. For a yarn store, I have to admit, it is a pretty good one. There was a nice big table for me to sit on while Mom and Aunt Tracy shopped.
I got bored with just sitting after a while, and decided to look around. There was a whole wall full of wonderfully soft yarn in lots of colors. Mom said it is called “silk”. I think she needs to make me a sweater out of some of that. She says it is not practical for a monkey sweater. I will have to work on convincing her.
Up by the cash register they had a basket full of very nice yarn. I don’t remember what kind it was, but it was about $150.00 for one skein of yarn. We did not buy any, but I did get to pat it some. The store people were very nice, and did not care if I patted the yarn.
Mom bought a bunch of yarn, just like she always does. Most of it was gifty yarn, that we will give to our friends who knit. But she did buy some recycled cotton to make herself a sweater, and Aunt Tracy convinced her to buy some linen to make a scarf to match it. They looked through pattern books, and talked about knitting while Mom knitted. Knitting, knitting, knitting.
I went outside to sit on the bench, because there is only so much yarn shopping I can stand.
Mom and Aunt Tracy finally came out. Aunt Tracy gave me a wonderful present! It is a pirate monkey nutcracker! I did not know there even was such a thing.
Now I need Mom to make me a pirate suit to wear when I play with the nutcracker monkey and my squishy Grow-a-Pirate. I have the fabric from Niklas and Mattias that will make a fine pirate shirt, and I don’t think a pirate hat and eyepatch would be too hard to make.
We had a very good time in Tulsa, even if we did have to spend a lot of it at yarn stores. That’s just the price I have to pay to get to see other places, I guess. Mom has a big trip planned for the end of the month. We are going to North Carolina to meet my brother, and she will be taking me to meet some of her tractor girls at the yarn store in a place called “Ashevegas”. We will spend five days with my brother, and three days with the Tractor Girls.
But the best part is, I will get to see my darling Dharma while I am there! I can’t wait!
