I Love Rock & Roll!!!
Today’s Fortune: A friend is waiting to hear from you.
This is a very good fortune! I’ll bet a lot of my friends are waiting to hear from me! It has been nearly two whole weeks since I got to blog, and it has made me kind of grumpy. Mom has been very busy with all of her work stuff since we got back from our trip, and when she is busy, I don’t get to blog. She says she is caught up now, and will try to be better about letting me use the computer. I am hopeful about this, but I have heard that before, so I will just wait and see. I have so much to talk about, it would take me a month just to catch up to today!
I don’t want to miss out on telling about all of the good stuff I have done, so I’m just going to pick up at the museum, where I left off in my last blog post. Mom says that is doing things in “chronological order”. That is how history is written, and museums are all about history, so that makes good sense to me.
My very favorite part of the museum was called “The Roots of Rock and Roll.” It was all about music, and they had some really cool stuff in there.
There was a sparkaly pink outfit and a pink guitar that used to belong to somebody named Wanda Jackson. Sassy LePouf! would have loved that outfit.
There was a guitar and a fringey shirt that belonged to somebody named Larry Collins. Mom says he wrote a song called “Delta Dawn.” His music is a kind called “Rockabilly.” I guess the guitar was made to be played by two people at once, because it has two of those long parts on it. I will have to see if I can find one like that at Buchanan’s so me and Calvin Klein can become rock stars.
Then there was a whole long section of stuff that belonged to somebody called “Hanson.” Hanson did a song called “Mmmbop” that was popular a few years ago. I like that song because it is very silly. I should write a song like that so they could have a section about me at the museum. I would even donate all of my pezzes so people could look at them.
There was also cool stuff about a band called “All American Rejects.” I have never heard the All American Rejects, but I have been to Stillwater, and it is very good, so they probably are, too. Stillwater is where Eskimo Joe lives. I got to meet Eskimo Joe, which I will tell about when I get to it in chronological order.
My favorite band was somebody called “The Tractors.” I have never listened to their music, but I am sure it is excellent. I bet there are lots of people I know that would like them, too. Mom says they are a country/rock band from Tulsa. I hope I get to see them someday. I’ll bet they drive John Deeres.
There was other cool stuff in the museum, too. Like this neon sign for Sonic restaurant:
There was a sculpture of a horse’s head that was really neat, too.
They even had a whole airplane hanging from the ceiling. I wish I had seen them putting that up there. I’ll bet that was lots of fun to watch.
But the best thing in the whole museum was the squished penny machine! Me and Puglet got to put in a penny (plus two quarters), and turn the handle. When we were finished, the penny was squished completely flat, and had a picture of a stagecoach on it!
Our trip to the museum was fun, and we learned a whole lot about Oklahoma. Maybe someday I’ll have a section in the museum. They can put me next to Pokey and HoHo.
Today’s Vocabulary Words: Chronological order, Rockabilly.
