Our Monkey Quilt Takes Shape…

Today’s Fortune: Little often makes much.

This fortune is true. For several weeks now, Mom has been swapping quilt blocks with friends in her Ravelry Pincushion Group. She has made several blocks and sent them out, and we have been receiving blocks little by little.

Our latest blocks came from our friend thegirlpurls. She is my Auntie Lori, and she lives in California, with all those happy cows. She sent Mom three more blocks for our quilt.

Auntie Lori also sent some extra fabrics and some very pretty sparkaly copper thread that Mom will use in her projects.  And she also sent us a thing called a “journal.”  That is a book where you write down stuff that you think about and want to remember.  It has bumble bee fabric on it, and Mom likes it a lot!  So much that she said I could not have it.

As usual,  the best stuff in the package was for me!!  Auntie Lori sent me a Bananas Foster flavored praline.  It is super tasty, and I really like it a lot.  The best thing of all, though, was the Bananahandle!!  It is a handle grip that I can put on the pots and pans in the kitchen when Mom lets me cook!  I can’t wait to try it out!

We laid out all of our quilt blocks on the floor in Mom’s office to see what our quilt will eventually look like.  There are sixteen blocks in all, and it takes up most of the floor.

We got another package that was quilt related, too.  It was a “thank you” present from our friend Bibliosophy.  She is my Auntie Bley, and she lives in Ohio where my brother just moved to.  She sent us a really nice book with a felted cover and blank fabric pages.  It is a “needle book.”  When you are not using your needles, you can poke them into the pages so they don’t wind up falling in the carpet and sticking you in the foot.

I am hoping Mom will get to start turning our blocks into a quilt soon.  It will be really nice to snuggle up with a nice quilt made from such wonderful little gifts from our friends.  We are grateful to everyone who sent us blocks!

Wow Noah, you are going to look so lovely nestled under that quilt. Your Mom and I have a surprise for you, well I think it’s a surprise anyway. Is that too much of a hint? Watch your mailbox in the next week or so Noah!

The banana handle is neat! I can’t wait to see you cook with it.

Your monkey quilt looks awesome! Are you keeping it or giving it to the grand babies?

    XOXO Big Monkey

    Hi, Auntie Brenda!!

Mom did not tell me about a surprise… and she will not tell me now, even though I have asked. That’s okay, though! I like surprises. I will keep an eye on the mailbox!

    Love, Noah

    Hi, Big Monkey!

I am hoping Mom will let me cook this weekend. She has been sewing all week and she has not been much fun. The monkey quilt will be staying here. I think grandbabies would probably just mess it up.

    Love, Noah
