Easy Rider. . .
Today’s Fortune: Happy news is on its way to you.
I sure wish that happy news would hurry up and get here, because it has not been very fun at my house for the last week.
Mom has been busy doing something she calls “Spring Cleaning.” Spring cleaning means that sock monkeys do not have any fun at all, and if we don’t keep a low profile, we wind up having to help. Mom has spent the past five days organizing all of her yarn. We were smart. We stayed out of the way. She finally finished that project and is in the middle of organizing her office. I promised I would help if she would let me blog for a few minutes. This means I will have to spend tomorrow filing paperwork, but it will be worth it, because I have been wanting to tell about my motorcycle ride for a whole week!
Two Saturdays ago, Mom and Dad took me and Dharma to the park. Dad was taking pictures of Mom wearing a bunch of stuff she had knitted, so while they were busy with that, me and Dharma got to entertain ourselves. There were lots of things that looked like they might be fun. We rode a see-saw for a few minutes. It was a creepy Donald Duck see-saw, and I had trouble hanging on, because the wind kept blowing me off of the seat. That is because my arms are not long enough to hang on to the handles.
I got tired of falling in the dirt, so me and Dharma decided to ride in the Fire Chief car. That would probably have been fun, except that Dharma insisted on driving. She drives like a granny. I tried to tell her that you can’t save lives and put out fires if it takes you an hour to get there. She told me to be quiet and put on my seat belt so we would be safe. I did not point out that putting out fires is not exactly the safest activity you can do.
I told her that if she ever got to the fire to holler at me and I would come help her put it out. In the meantime, I decided to see what else there was to do.
And then I saw it! A shiny red motorcycle that looked like it was made just for me!! The handle grips were a perfect fit for me, and the wind could not knock me off! I jumped on that cycle and started to ride!!
It was awesome! Just me, out on the open road, with the wind in my ears! I was just thinking that I should ask Mom about making me a leather jacket, when she said it was time to go. She said the sun was going down, and I did not have a headlight on my motorcycle, so it was not safe.
I have figured out that girls are way too worried about being safe.
Next time, I am going to get Dad to take me to the park by myself. Mom and Dharma can stay home and do “safe” stuff.
Like Spring cleaning.

Hi, Big Monkey!
Does Laura make you do spring cleaning, too? Do you have any good suggestions for hiding places?

But, Noah! You were on that motorcycle without a helmet! Goodness, dear boy, all your stuffing could come out if you took a spill.

Hi, Auntie Pam!
Don’t worry – I was hanging on really tight. Plus, I don’t think I was going all that fast.
