New Monkeys to Brighten the Day….
Today’s Fortune: Make two grins grow where there was only a frown before.
That’s some good advice, I guess. I am starting to smile again, and fun things have been happening at my house. I just wish Dharma was here to share them with me. That’s the best part of having a best friend.
Late last week, a big box came to my house. It was a good thing, because it helped cheer me up some. My Mom’s good friend Beth sent a whole lot of good stuff to us! She sent Mom some very pretty yarn in brown and tan colors. I wanted Mom to make me something from it, but she says she will make herself a textured scarf with it.
She also sent Mom a sock monkey tote bag kit! I hope Mom will make that soon. We could use it when she takes me places. It would be much better than being crammed down into her big purse. Beth also sent a very good card. It has a funny looking dog on it, with a sparkaly front tooth.
But the best part was the stuff she sent for me!! She sent me two monkey faces on stretchy strings, and a magazine ad of the Happy California Cows!!! She also sent us a brown store-bought sock monkey who was stapled into a little cardboard crate. He is not a geezer, so he’ll be able to play with me and Bullseye and Calvin Klein and the new TSM monkey, when she gets here.
Beth is a very good friend, and her package was just full of the very best things!
I was enjoying my new stuff, when Mom said we had another package to open! This one was from our good friend, Tracy. Tracy sent me a book called “The Cat in the Hat Comes Back”. I will have to review it as soon as I have a chance to read it. It looks really good, though. I need to get Mom to make me a hat like that.
Tracy also sent us a fluffy extra-soft puppy dog puppet that sings a song called “Close to You.” Mom has to do the singing part, because my hands are not big enough to make him work. There was a very cute card with a pig on it, and there was a pink chicken that glows hot pink, orange, and purple when you put him in the bathtub!! Mom says he is a “Peeps.” We tested him, and he is very fun!
But the best thing of all was a pink stripey store-bought monkey. She was stapled in a crate just like the brown monkey. Now I have two new friends!
Mom carefully cut all of the plastic staples loose from our new monkeys, and cut the tags off of their ears. She gathered up the boxes and the plastic bits, and went to toss them in the trash. She was only gone for a second, but that was all it took for those two monkeys to notice each other.
It was love at first sight, I guess, because they gave each other a big kiss, right on the lips!! I didn’t kiss Dharma until we had gotten to know each other for a while.
We have very good friends to send us such great things. And who would have guessed that two new monkeys would hit it off so well?
Mom separated the New Monkeys, and told Bleach to keep an eye on them. She says we have a “G Rated” house.
She has decided that we are going to name those monkeys Jack and Diane.
Today’s Vocabulary Words: Peeps, G Rated

Noah,
I just finished reading “Sock Monkey Dreams”, and I saw your mom’s name in the Acknowledgments Section. I am curious how she helped with the book. I absolutely LOVED it! I also just realized I was friends with the photographer on Facebook. How exciting!

Hi, Big Monkey!
We are as mystified as you are. We can only guess that maybe one of our vintage friends was adopted out some time ago to the author. We will have to get a copy of the book to see if we can solve the mystery! Love, Noah
