Adult Supervision is no fun…..
Today’s Fortune: Don’t ask, don’t say. Everything lies in silence.
This is not a good fortune. I have been silent for way too long this time. I have not been able to blog since last Sunday!!! That is a whole week!! All because Mom worked all week, and she has been tired.
When Mom is tired, I don’t get to blog, because she will not let me use the computer without Adult Supervision. She says there is all kinds of bad stuff on the internet, and so I have to have her nearby while I blog. That is not very fun, and it really makes it hard for me to keep everybody up to speed on what is going on here in the Yarniverse.
Since Mom has been working, I have had to entertain myself a lot this week. I was looking for some crayons in my Dad’s office, and I found a whole shelf of fun stuff, way up high. There was a dancing gopher, a funny painted horse, a Gumby and a Pokey, and best of all… a squishy cow!!!
My Dad says I cannot have the squishy cow, even though it is very, very good. He says that he is not even supposed to have the squishy cow. He told me that many years ago, computers came to your house in big boxes with cow spots on them, and they came with cow spot mugs, cow spot mouse pads, and squishy cows!! Those were the “Good Old Days”. Things were very good in the Good Old Days, until some kids decided that it would be a good idea to bite off pieces of the squishy cow, and they choked on the pieces. Dad said that the computer company did something called a “recall”. That is where they make you give back something you got because there is something wrong with it. But I don’t think there was anything wrong with the squishy cows. They were just minding their own business when kids started biting pieces off of them.
Dad says I cannot have the cow, but sometimes I can play with it. But only with Adult Supervision. Dad gave me an old metal tank to play with instead. It is pretty good, but it is not as good as a squishy cow.
Adult Supervision is no fun at all. But if there had been more Adult Supervision back in the Good Old Days, we might still have squishy cows.
Today’s Vocabulary Words: Good Old Days, recall

I agree with you Noah. Back in the old days when I was a young sock, it would have been the parent’s fault if the kid choked on the squishy cow, not the company that made him. There were no such things as multi-million dollar lawsuits when common sense should have been a requirement. Maybe they could put a warning on the squishy cow. Please make sure to watch your kid while he/she plays with squishy cow so that he/she doesn’t tear it apart and choke on the pieces. Yikes! It’s hard for us sock monkeys to relate since we are nostalgic toys from simpler times.
I’m glad that you’re back to blogging. Tell your mom not to work too hard.
Take care,
