Monkey Party at the Holiday Inn….

Today’s Fortune: Stop searching. Happiness will come to you.

Happiness always does come to me. When we finished up our visit to the Red Heel Monkey Shelter, we decided to go check into our hotel room. We were supposed to meet our friends Knittymac and Puggerhugger, but they called and said that they would be late, because they had car trouble, which didn’t sound like much fun at all.

We went up to the hotel room, and me and Sassy and Mike Bison spent some time looking through the notebook that tells all about the hotel, while Mom unpacked all of our stuff. We stayed in the Holiday Inn Biltmore West, which was very nice.

Me and Sassy tested out the pillows to see if they were comfy.  Sassy tried the soft ones, and me and Mike Bison tried the firm ones.  We really couldn’t tell much difference, but they were good anyway.

There was also a big armchair that Mom decided would be good to sit in for knitting.  We tested it out.  It was really good, and big enough for both of Mom’s knitting bags, which take up a bunch of room.

Once we were all unpacked we couldn’t really decide what to do, because it was going to be late before our friends would arrive.  We thought about going down to the swimming pool, but it was full of about a million people, because it was very hot outside.

Instead, we decided to go down to our friend Puggerhugger’s yarn store.  Puggerhugger’s real name is Jana, but Puggerhugger is very fun to say.  The name of the yarn store is Purl’s Yarn Emporium. It is a really good yarn store, and if you are ever in Ashevegas, you should definitely check it out.

We wandered around for a while and finally saw somebody we though looked familiar. It was our friend Lizabee! Her real name is Elizabeth, but Lizabee is more fun to say, too. She gave me a big hug, and I got to sit in her lap and visit with Otto, who lives at the yarn store. I sure wish monkeys lived at our yarn store.  It makes the yarn store much less boring.

We went to dinner with Lizabee and a couple of other Ravelry friends.   The restaurant was called Early Girl Eatery. We had catfish, and it was delicious!

After dinner, we went back to the hotel to wait for Puggerhugger and Knittymac. Knittymac’s real name is Mary Ann, but Knittymac is more fun to say than anything! It was almost 11:00 before they called to say they were downstairs in a thing called a “lobby”. We went down to see them, and Puggerhugger said that Valentina could spend the night with us!

Valentina has been staying at Puggerhugger’s house for the last month as part of the Traveling Sock Monkeys group. I had not seen her since I packed her in the big Priority Mail box, and I was very glad to see her again. I’m not sure if she felt the same way, though.

She has new purple hair and pink sparkaly eyelashes that she got at Jana’s house.  She looks very glamorous.

Knittymac brought a bunch of her monkeys, too!  We got to meet Mr. Noro, who is a handknitted monkey made of blue and green and purple Noro yarn.  Mr. Noro has a tiny sock monkey of his own.   We also got to meet Morty.  Morty is visiting Mary Ann in a different TSM group.  He also had a sock monkey friend who looks a lot like Bookmonkey, only with legs.

Mom took a group picture of all of us!

We had a very fun sleepover!  I’m not sure why they call them “sleepovers”, though, because we did not sleep very much.  We stayed up until 4:30 in the morning, and had to get up for breakfast and more adventures at 7:00.  Mom and Knittymac stayed up, too.   We were tired, but it was a lot of fun.  And who can sleep when this much excitement is going on?

Tomorrow I will tell about more of our Ashevegas adventures.  Today we are going to a place called “Bricktown” in Oklahoma City.  My brother wants to show my sister-in-law all of the fun stuff we have here.  I will have to tell about all of that later, too.  I may never catch up….

Today’s Vocabulary Words: Lobby, sleepover, Bricktown
