Forts and Foliage….
Today’s Fortune: Seek out the significance of your problem at this time.
That is just a silly fortune, because I don’t have any problems that I know of. I may have to send this one back. I’m not sure how to get it back in the cookie, though.
After Auntie Beth left to go back to Connecticut, Auntie Kate said that she would take us to the beach. I was very excited, because I had never been to a beach before. The one we went to was Nantasket Beach. It was not like the beaches I have seen on TV. There were no people in swimsuits playing volleyball or anything, which was a good thing, because it was pretty cold. There was an old Revolutionary War fort there. It was very cool, and very old. We were sorry to see that somebody had painted graffiti on such a historic site.
There was a big piece of granite in front of it that was put there in 1976 to pay tribute to the soldiers who died at Fort Independence. We were glad to see that nobody had painted graffiti on the granite.
We stayed there for a while, just watching boats and stuff out on the water. It was very peaceful and beautiful. I wished we lived by a beach.
After a little while, we drove on down to see a different part of the beach. There were lots of big boats in the water and some of them went very fast. I got to watch the sun go down on the water. I wouldn’t mind watching the sunset on the beach every day.
The next day we got up and headed toward Northampton, MA. Mom and the aunties were excited, because that is where Webs is. I was excited, because that is where Dharma was going to be! We decided we were going to stop at a place called Sturbridge Village, but when we got there it was all rainy. Sturbridge Village is apparently not very fun in the rain, so we decided to see some shops, instead. There was a very good gift shop where I got to ride a happy cow! I’ll bet Sturbridge Village would not have let me ride a cow, so this turned out to be just great!
Mom kept taking pictures of trees and leaves and stuff. She kept talking about how the “foliage” was just beautiful. Foliage is trees and leaves and stuff. In New England it turns all colors of red and yellow and orange, and it is very pretty. In Oklahoma, it mostly just turns brown and falls off. Usually over about two or three days. I had to admit, it was very nice.
And very colorful.
And very boring. There is only so much fun you can have looking at trees.
We got to the hotel where we were spending the night. Mom and the aunties did some knitting and visited. I was pretty sure I would not be able to sleep at all, since I was going to get to see Dharma the next morning, but the next thing I knew, me and Chip and Puglet had fallen over asleep.
We must have been worn out from the day’s activities. I guess foliage will do that to you.
