My Bobble-Headed Friends….

Today’s Fortune: A friend is a present you give yourself.

I have given myself several friends over the past few days. Mom has had to work the last three days, so I have been a latchkey monkey, just watching for packages to arrive. On Monday, the postman arrived while she was at work, and he left a package on the porch. I was worried that it was Dharma, and that she would not think I was a very good host, leaving her on the porch and all.

When Mom came home, she brought in the box. It was not Dharma. It was a package from Mom’s friend, Pam. I was a little bit worried to see what was in the box, because Pam is the one who gave us the Anti-Monkey Butt Powder. I was very glad to see that everything in the box looked safe.

There were some cards with babies on them.  They all have sweaters or hats on and the cards have the knitting patterns to make the baby outfits.  Mom said these are for our grandbaby, Lily.  Grandbabies are good.  You can love on them, play with them, and give them back when they get stinky or loud.  That is what makes them grand.

The next thing in the box was really exciting!  It was something called a “kit”.  It is a bunch of yarn and a pattern to make a “Mr. Foster”!!!  Mr. Foster is a knitted sock monkey, and he has a thing called a “union suit”, which is like long red underwear, and a robe that ties.  I can’t wait until Mom makes Mr. Foster!   He will be so much fun to play with.  Maybe Mom will make me a union suit and a robe, too.  He will take a lot longer to make than the sisters did.  Knitting is much harder and takes a lot more time than sewing.

The last thing in the box was the very best, though!  It was a Mr. and Mrs. Dashboard Hula Monkey!!!

I took them out of the box so I could see them better.  They have grass skirts and their heads wobble and bob.  Mom says they are “bobble heads”.  That makes sense.  I told Mom that these were mine.  I was sure Pam sent them for me.  Now I have to get me a dashboard to stick them to, because Mom says I cannot stick them to hers.

My fortune says that a friend is a present that you give to yourself.  I am glad Mom gave herself Pam as a present, because she is a very good friend.  And I am glad Pam sent us so many monkey friends that I could give to me as presents!  Yay for good friends and presents!!

Today’s Vocabulary Words: Kit, Mr. Foster, union suit, bobble head.

Oh Noah! I’m so glad you like the dashboard monkeys. I hope Mr. Foster becomes a very, very good friend to you. Just like your Mom is to me.

    Noah,

Monkeys look great in grass skirts, don’t you think? Maybe you need to get your own car someday with a dashboard for those hula monkeys… hee hee!

The knitted sock monkey Mr. Foster looks neat. I can’t wait to see how he turns out.

    Hi, Fru and Sassy!

I keep telling Mom I need a car, but she says I have to pass some kind of test to drive. Maybe me and Sassy can shop for a car while she is here! Love, Noah

    Hi, Big Monkey!

I am working on getting a car. Mom is hard headed sometimes, though. You should get Laura to make you a Mr. Foster, too. Then we would both have one!! Love, Noah

    Hi, Big Monkey!

Tell Laura knitting is easy. You just take two sticks and some string and make stuff out of it. Love, Noah
